Q: |
Why does your shallow water anchor system come with anchor lines instead of a bracket? |
A:
|
We have done extensive testing on stern and bow mount brackets and we did not include them in our system because they do not work. Here's why: wind and or current will create forces on your vessel creating pressure on your anchor pin. When your anchor pin is ran through a device that is fixed to your vessel we have found that at times with enough force from one or both of these factors it is almost impossible to get your anchor pin out of this fixed device. With anchor lines you can immediately release this pressure by pulling your vessel up to the anchor pin. |
Q: |
How deep do I have to "stick it" ? |
A: |
That will vary due to bottom conditions. About 1 ft. in the sand and about 2ft. in the mud. However the deeper the better.
|
Q: |
What if I am in 6 ft. of water and have to "stick it" in mud? |
A: |
With the 7 ft. lanyard attached the anchor pin can be pushed under the water level to anchor off.
|
Q: |
Does the anchor pin float? |
A: |
No. Our anchor pins are made of a solid reinforced polyester resin. However we have a float system and an anchor line/float system keeper.
|
Q: |
How do I store it? |
A: |
The anchor pin is approximately the same size as your average fishing pole and can be stored in the same manner. However the 7' and 8' systems come with mounting clips which can be attached virtually anywhere you desire on your vessel.
|
Q: |
How does it hold? |
A: |
It holds mostly due to the flex of the anchor pin, absorbing the pressure created against your vessel due to currents and/or winds. The flex creates more holding strength than thicker anchoring devices that have no or very little flex.
|
Q: |
Why doesn't it break? |
A: |
The anchor pin is made of polyester resins with a reinforcing ingrediant creating a tensile strength of thirty thousand pounds. If enough pressure is applied it will pull out before even coming close to breaking.
|
Q: |
Why don't you have a metal point on the tip? |
A: |
There is no need. The 5/8" or 3/4" diameter makes it very easy to stick in the mud or sand and it took just over 5 years to go from this,
to this.
We expect that under normal use the Stick It Anchor Pin will last a lifetime.
|
Q: |
How big of a boat will the anchor pin hold?
|
A: |
The recommended boat size is up to a 18 ft. flats boat for the 7' system and up to 24 ft. flats/bay boat for the 8' system.
This anchor pin is not a permanent anchoring device. It will not replace your regular anchor and rope and it is not a USCG approved anchoring device. However if you are an avid fisherman, fishing the flats, rivers, streams and even the lakes in up to 7' of water you can be assured of faster, quieter and stronger anchoring with the Stick It Anchor Pin shallow water anchoring system.
